5 to Try: Summer’s last gasp

, For The Tennessean 11:01 a.m. CDT September 12, 2016

Summer’s “unofficial” ending, Labor Day, is usually in the 90’s. Even the official ending on Sept. 22 is typically followed by, oh, five or six weeks of ridiculous hotness. Basically, you’re not putting away your sandals anytime soon, and I’m personally planning to complain about the heat at least through Halloween. Still, there are certain ceremonial things one must do to at least mentally prepare for the changing of seasons. One last swim before they close the pool, one final pedicure in Towel Me About It before you switch to OPI’s fall colors, and five last summery treats. Yes, you can still eat hot dogs and popsicles in October. But they don’t taste as good when your hair isn’t plastered to your head from sweat.
